Jen Hatmaker

Main Speaker

We are very excited to welcome our main speaker, Jen Hatmaker to this years Deeper Life Retreat.  Jen Hatmaker, her husband Brandon, and their five children live in Austin, Texas, where the city motto is “Keep Austin Weird,” and they work hard to do their part.  As a speaker and author , she considers humor to be her second most valuable tool, behind the word of God. Jen’s nine books include Interrupted,  A Modern Girl’s Guide to Bible Study, and her latest, 7: A Mutiny on Excess. She and her husband planted Austin New Church in an economically and ethnically diverse, socially unique, urban area of the city in 2008. They are in the greatest adventure of their lives, with part of the adventure being the addition of two children from Ethiopia who have joined the three they already have.  Jen will be sharing  her heart with us on God’s grace and redemption for all. No matter what season of life you may find yourself in, there is hope and a perfect plan for your life.  Register Here

A word from breakout speaker Connie Wieber

As the Deeper Life Retreat is getting closer, I'm getting more and more excited to see what God will do. I've been going to the DLR for about 20 years. The very first time I went I was a young mom, and new to this area. I was so hungry for friendships. I was curious as to other women's motivations for going that year and when I asked, I was so surprised to hear the same reason from many of them. Especially from women who I thought already had well established friendships. I've since gained many friends, but more than that I've been blessed, challenged, equipped, and called by the Lord year after year at this event. I've worked on the DLR committee a while back and I know the time, energy and prayer that goes into each of these Weekends. This year is no exception, and like you, I'm excited. I was honored to be asked to give the clothe yourself as a princess workshop on the Garments of Royalty, and how they apply to our life spiritually. (These are the clothes we wear under the Armor of God.) This is something God has worked out in my life over the years, and He still reminds me of the clothes in my spiritual closet that I sometimes forget to put on. As the seasons change, which garments will you be pulling out to wear? I can't wait to remind each of us of some of the clothes God has given us as Daughters of the King. Maybe they are totally new, maybe you just forgot you had them. Trust me. They all Fit! Now that's a blessing! :-) See you there.

A word from our Main Speaker - Julie Barnhill

What would your life look like if you were so intent on following after Jesus that no person, no thing, and no obstacle could keep you from doing just that? That's exactly what we're going to explore during our weekend together and I'm excited about meeting each and everyone of you and learning more about your story. I promise you will laugh so hard you snort as well as thoughtfully consider the power of God's holy scripture and how it can and will impact you in the totality of your life. I am finding Him to be faithful each and every time I teach this message and women's lives are being changed by the truth of her testimony and the power of His Word (John 4:39-40.)

Warmly,
Julie

A word from break out speaker Leah Morse

Hey Ladies! I'm getting excited about the "clothe your home natural" breakout session. I have so much that I want to share with you my biggest challenge is going to be narrowing it all down! I am really anxious to talk to you about the recent changes in recycling and what happens to the items in your bin once they go on the truck. My boys have also been helping me try out different cleaning recipes so we can offer you the best ones. Although baking soda and vinegar are GREAT cleaning agents, there are a lot more natural ingredients the Lord has given us that can clean your home.
I can't wait to talk to you about simplifying your lives. A frugal and simple lifestyle is really so much less stressful than society's status quo. I am going to talk about stripping your lives down to the basics and deciphering what matters and what doesn't. What I am not going to do is show you "time saving" tips. There are times in our lives when such tips are helpful but I am forced to ask the question, "What are we really saving time for?" Life, to me, is about the journey.
I hope that you are as excited as I am for the Deeper Life Retreat that is only weeks away. My prayer is that you will learn something new but more importantly that the Holy Spirit will speak to you. See you there!

Leah

P.S. Homework....Think about your favorite childhood memories and write them down.
